Found a Cool Site: Symphony of Science, It Will Interest Inquiring Minds……..

Found a fantastic website today Symphony of Science. Symphony of Science is a musical project headed by John Bosell a musician from Washington State who makes music videos. Symphony of Science is designed to deliver scientific knowledge and philosophy in musical form. Check out John’s youtube site here. A very impressive site with close to 70,000 subscribers. John blends the arts with scientific knowledge in a format that is appealing to the curious individual who might be baffled by scientific phenonmena to the “rocket scientist.” All of John’s videos are fantastic but I find the following video The Poetry of Reality (An Anthem for Science) to be exceptional for promoting scientific literacy among all.

White House Hosts 1st Science Fair October 18th, 2010

On October 18th, 2010 President Obama hosted the first White House Science Fair. More than a dozen students qualified for the State Dining Room exhibition. President Obama Photo of Chelsa Chester, CBHS science research student discusses her science research project with fair judge.  wanted to reward the young science research students with the same type of acknowledgement often given to “sports stars.” President Obama spent close to one hour speaking with the eleven students who had their projects on display at the White House. The projects covered a broad range of science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) competitions. Amy Chyao, winner of the Intel Science and Engineering Fair was present with her winning project entitled “Lights, Quantum Dots, Action!”  The White House Science Fair fulfills a commitment President Obama made at the beginning of his Educate to Innovate campaign in November 2009. The primary goal of the Educate to Innovate campaign is to move American students from the middle to the top of the pack in science and math achievement over the next decade.
