Think Like A Scientist

In just two days the world will be glued to their TV’s watching the 2012 Summer Olympics to take place in London. Like past Olympic games there will be no shortage of the use of high-tech sporting equipment to help athletes achieve their greatest potential. High-tech eye-candy for this year include a newly designed soccer ball with thermal-bonded seams for a rounder ball, tight-fitting cycling helmets to help cut down wind resistance, high-tech swim suits to reduce drag, light weight running shoes, and Nike’s full-body track suit made of recycled polyester and plastic bottles with the arms and legs of the suit having raised dimples to reduce drag, similar to the dimples seen in golf balls.
